Amakha has been developed to provide an easy but extremely powerful way to build a GNU/Linux Distribution. Maximum flexibility and stability are the main features of Amakha. The development of Amakha could be summarized as:
- Import of openembedded stable Metadata;
- Populate source repository;
- Test, release, patch and override with Amakha recipes;
- Release of apha, beta and candidate versions;
- Release of Amakha’s stable version.
Amakha has been designed in three modules:
- core: it includes the Kernel, init system, busybox and base services;
- core-x: It includes several additional services, audio server and X-server;
- full: It includes a Desktop Environment, an office suite and multimedia applications.

In order to become Amakha more stable, the testing process and the snapshot release is repeated for every development step of Amakha.
